PTA Q & A (and drinks)
Are you keen to make a positive difference to your child’s school experience and feel part of a rewarding and fun community movement? Then keep reading.
Sydenham School’s PTA is an active group of parents and carers, that binds a community, and positively contributes to our amazing school.
What does the PTA do exactly?
Well, last year (2021/22) was a record year, and together you helped us raise an incredible £8,500. This amazing result, has contributed to sponsorship for the Y11 prom, a new piano, new kit for the school football team, supplies for the art department, residential trips, STEM resources, books for a new book
club, a mental health awareness workshop for parents and with a whopping £10,000 in the fundraising pot remaining, we’ve only just got started…..
But being in the PTA sounds like hard work and I’m already really busy!
You can choose what you get involved in, whether it’s from behind the bar for an hour at one of the in-school events, helping with our communications channels, or thinking of new fundraising ideas, we’re always keen to welcome new parents and carers to join our community. In particular those with skills in communication, website design and social media would be very welcome!
Hmmm, I’m still not sure I want to get involved…
Getting involved with Sydenham School's PTA is a fulfilling and rewarding experience. You’ll make new friends and feel part of the fabric of the school and wider community. It also gives you the chance to use your skills in new and exciting ways and possibly learn some new ones too! And if that wasn’t enough to get your creative juices flowing we are excited to announce that if you volunteer or help out at an event that you also wish to attend, you will gain free entry and have a reserved seat in one of the best seats in the house.
…Ok, so you had me at free entry, what’s next?
We are holding our next social gathering on Tuesday 18 April from 7.30pm at the Bricklayer’s Arms just opposite the school and would love to see you there. We are also looking for budding cocktail shakers and pint pullers to help run the bars at upcoming school events such as the GCSE art show, Battle of the Bands and the whole-school production of Matilda.
